I was born and raised in Africa, where I experienced both the beauty of community and the pain of adversity. After surviving a horrific homophobic attack that claimed the life of my partner and nearly took mine, I sought safety in the United States as an asylee. I arrived with no family, no network, and no certainty about what the future would hold. What I found instead was humanity. People who had every reason to walk past me chose to stop and help. My California mothers, Blyth and Kathryn, became my first champions, offering encouragement when I had lost hope. Later, Mrs. Laura from Memphis, Tennessee, opened her home, welcomed me into her community, and introduced me to lifelong friendships that helped me rebuild my life. These remarkable individuals reminded me that family is not always defined by blood-it is often defined by compassion. Their kindness transformed my life, and it became the foundation of my purpose. After earning my Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration and working in the healthcare industry, I witnessed firsthand that one of the greatest barriers to health, independence, and dignity is the lack of stable housing. Time and again, I saw individuals ready to move forward but held back because they simply had nowhere safe and affordable to call home. That realization inspired me to dedicate my life to creating housing opportunities for those who need them most-including individuals experiencing homelessness, people rebuilding their lives after incarceration, veterans, seniors, and others seeking a fresh start. My mission is not simply to provide housing, but to create places where people feel safe, respected, valued, and empowered to rebuild their lives.

I am Isaac Afram, the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of I & R Care Affordable Shared Housing, where I provide strategic leadership and drive our mission to expand access to safe, affordable, and high-quality housing across Ohio. I have a deep commitment to serving vulnerable individuals and families, and I believe that housing is more than just a place to live-it is the foundation for stability, opportunity, and long-term success. My vision is rooted in the belief that every person deserves a safe and dignified place to call home, regardless of their circumstances. Under my leadership, I & R Care has been built on the core values of compassion, integrity, accountability, and excellence. I am dedicated to developing housing solutions that not only meet immediate needs but also empower residents to rebuild their lives, achieve greater independence, and thrive within their communities. I am passionate about fostering meaningful partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and local agencies to address housing insecurity through innovative, person-centered solutions. My collaborative approach reflects my unwavering commitment to strengthening communities and creating lasting social impact. I continue to lead I & R Care with a clear vision: to become a trusted leader in affordable shared housing by delivering exceptional service, expanding housing opportunities, and ensuring every resident is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Dr. Marcus Vance

Clinical Director

Dr. Marcus Vance oversees clinical programs, case coordination, resident evaluations, and alignment with healthcare service providers throughout Ohio. He brings extensive experience in community health and resident wellness support.

Sarah Jenkins, MSW

Lead Case Manager

Sarah Jenkins, MSW, guides admissions intakes, goal tracking, social service assessments, and resource matching for veteran and youth programs at I&R CARES.

David Ross

Housing Operations Manager

David Ross manages facility operations, security protocol checks, move-in checklists, and transitional housing logistics across all Ohio residential properties.

Elena Torres

Community Coordinator

Elena Torres manages public relationships, volunteer networks, food bank deliveries, and community partnership networks.
